“We wish to close our statement this week on a personal note. We appeal to the President to show some empathy for the current health condition of our colleague, Congresswoman Gloria Arroyo. Apparently the President does not believe that her condition is life-threatening. There is a compromise to this situation: Once the medical bulletin on Cong. GMA is out, perhaps the President can ask any specialist from any of our government hospitals to verify the results. Certainly, this is a more humane response than an outright denial of a plea for mercy. “

House Speaker Sonny Belmonte says the government should consider overseas treatment for former President Arroyo if needed.
Belmonte says the government cannot make decisions based on the claims of arroyo’s allies alone. “it’s only doctor villarosa who I’ve heard talking about it I haven’t heard any doctor . I don’t like to build whole theory on basis of what congressman villarosa said. kailangan na magsalita doctor. I think we have a lot of specialists here I’d like to hear them na talagang if it reaches that point we should think about it .”
On Friday, Arroyo ally Mindoro Rep. Amelita Villarosa told media that Arroyo faces a life threatening condition after a titanium implant got dislodged and is now affecting hear breathing.
Arroyo’s family and office have so far declined comment on the matter.
